Skala holidays are set in a scenic resort on the south eastern coast of the island of Kefalonia. A popular resort with couples and families it has grown from a small sleepy fishing village into a fully fledged holiday resort with excellent facilities and a good choice of places to stay. The main street is packed with shops, bars and restaurants and lead to the lovely long sandy beach.
The Blue Flag Beach is the star of the show here, it stretches for around three kilometres and most holidays to Skala involve long lazy days relaxing on the soft sands enjoying a cooling dip in the lovely sea. There is also a wide choice of watersports available on the beach for the more energetic holidaymaker including jet-skis and windsurfing.
With a choice of bars and restaurants in the resort centre, evenings are as lively or relaxing as you like. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail whilst watching the sun go down. Traditional tavernas serve up tasty treats and a warm welcome, where you can spend the evening talking with fellow tourists and locals alike. With a wide choice of places to stay, Skala holidays are accessible to all tastes and budgets.
In the hills behind the resort there is a ancient Roman historical site, it dates back to the 3rd Century and attracts tourists from all over the island. Drogarati Cave one of the most popular excursions on the island is also nearby in the town of Sami, it is a cave that is nearly 40m underground and is a fascinating place to explore. Tourists visit the caves and Antisamos Beach, which is also in Sami, it was made famous by the recent film Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
