The major resort of Kololi has the most choice of hotels and is also the main hub of the nightlife with a wide choice of bars, restaurants, live music and even a casino. The hotels in Kololi range from basic such as the Sarges Hotel to luxurious such as the Kairaba Hotel. It is also home to the most popular hotel in the Gambia, the Senegambia Beach Hotel, a hotel which attracts many regular visitors year after year.
Kotu is the second largest resort and has a range of basic to midmarket hotels and is especially popular thanks to its lovely wide beach. The Kombo Beach and Sunset Beach are two very popular hotels which also welcome back guests year after year who love the fact they are both direct on the beach. In recent years there has been a number of new restaurants open in the resort offering all types of cuisine as well as a number of beach bars.
Gambia Hotels - Something for all budgets!
Bakau, Cape Point and Fajara are all next to each other and are a much quieter area for hotels. The lively local market in Bakau is a great place to soak up the local atmosphere and traditions. Cape Point has a fantastic beach that has been reclaimed from the sea with sands imported from the Sahara and Fajara is a popular place for ex-pats and embassy staff to live.
Banjul, Bijilo and Brufut Heights are quiet and relaxing resorts where hotels are usually of a good to high standard with the Coral Beach Gambia in Brufut Heights a popular all inclusive choice. The impressive Coco Ocean Resort and Spa in Bijilo offers a unique feel with Moroccan style architecture and a spa to relax in.
