Skiing holidays in Italy are a popular choice with all ages and abilities. Families love the un-crowded slopes, unlike other European ski resorts, Italians tend to be late arrivals to the slopes and then enjoy a long break for lunch too. The majority of places to ski in Italy tend to be facing the sun so you will also have the opportunity to top up your tan!
Many of the top ski resorts in Italy are in the Val d’Aosta region where you will find Cervinia and Gressoney, the Milky Way where Sauze d'Oulx, Claviere and Sestriere make up over 400km of pistes including links to France.
But the top skiing in Italy is to be found in the Dolomites, which offers the fantastic Dolomiti Superski Area - the world's largest linked ski area with 1220km of pistes suitable for all skiing abilities and snowboarders alike. The mountains here are stunning and as well as being snow sure the slopes are sunny too. Resorts in this area include Arabba, Cortina and Selva as well as a number of smaller resorts and villages all of which are linked to the slopes by the fantastic lift system.
Italy Ski Holidays
Cervinia is one of the highest resorts in the Alps is dominated by the imposing Matterhorn. There are over 350km of high altitude skiing shared with Zermatt in Switzerland and there is plenty of shops, bars, nightclubs and pizzerias for when you are done for the day on the slopes. The Milky Way has a great choice of resorts but the most popular with British skiers is the lively town of Sauze d'Oulx. Here you will find a great choice of accommodation, excellent skiing and boarding and a lively apres-ski scene.
Livigno is another favourite with British skiers, this lively town has a vibrant apres ski with over 100 bars so there is plenty of choice for all tastes. The skiing is split into two areas on either side of the valley that Livigno sits in. There is fantastic pedestrian shopping area in Livigno and better still it is duty free.
