Located in the Ionian Sea, Zante is a Greek Island providing an ideal destination for people who are either looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday or also perfect for those looking to party the night away. It is known to locals by its Greek name, Zakynthos.
Zante holidays have become increasingly popular with UK holidaymakers thanks to its wide variety of resorts, soft sand beaches and plentiful choice of restaurants and bars. Zante is also famous for its loggerhead turtles that choose to nest there and every year many people that have holidays in Zante get to see the spectacle of the young turtles migrating across the beach to the open seas.
There is a resort for all tastes in Zante, from lively party resorts to small typically Greek and pretty much unspoilt. Being a fairly small island at around 160 square miles it is fairly easy to get around and see many of the sights fairly easily. Laganas is the largest and most well known resort on the island with its famous nightlife and good range of budget accommodation.
Zante - Great for family holidays
For families looking for a busier resort with plenty of activities but a less frenetic nightlife, the resorts of Tsilivi and Argassi would be perfect. There is enough there to keep adults and children amused regardless of age.
The summer season for Zante starts in May and lasts until the end of October with temperatures ranging from 25ºc to a high of 30ºc plus in August. If you are looking for a quieter Zante holiday there are plenty of smaller resorts such as Kalamaki and Alkynes. However if partying is for you, then look no further than the centre of Laganas. Party central with non-stop bars, pubs and clubs. This is a haven for party goers of all ages.
