The resort of Benitses was once Corfu’s fastest growing holiday resort, an original fishing village that became a magnet for party animals. It is situated on the east coast and is still popular with the young and lively crowd, over the years holidays in Benitses have matured into an attractive all-round resort appealing to a much wider range of visitors. The airport is just nine miles away so makes for a short transfer.
In the old town it is still pretty much a typically Greek village, with some Roman ruins the surrounding countryside is delightful, and the long shingle blue flag beach is perfectly adequate for sunbathing, with watersports and plenty of bars and tavernas close at hand. Fisherman still bring the catch of the day in during the late afternoon sun.

You can enjoy the best of both worlds in Benitses, relaxing quiet days on the fine sand and shingle beach or around the pool and then when the sun goes down, you can party away in the many nightspots. Or for families and couples there are a good choice of family friendly bars and restaurants in the resort too all of which serve the fresh catch of the day or traditional Greek dishes as well as a wide choice of international cuisine, including British favourites.
Out and about from Benitses
About ten kilometres south of Benitses are fine sand and shingle beaches with a wide choice of water sports at Messonghi and Moraitika, separated by a river mouth where brightly coloured fishing boats bob at anchor. In the original hillside village of Ano Moraitika narrow alleyways and tiny houses are decked in bougainvillea, while the modern purpose built resort below has the full range of shops, bars and beachside tavernas. Take a half-hour stroll along the shore road to Boukári for a quieter taverna lunch, or climb the hill above Moraitika to the remains of a third century BC temple with spectacular views.
